Beth Bartz

I am a self-taught artist, striving to learn drawing and painting techniques through workshops, experimentation and many brush miles!  I have been interested in the creative arts since my childhood and have always had some creative endeavor in the works.  After my children "left the nest" I have pursued art more seriously, developing my own personal approach and style on paper. As a Door County native, I am drawn to natural beauty – flowers, landscapes, water, leaves, rocks.  I find watercolor the perfect medium for my work because of its ability to blend and granulate and convey that natural beauty through an atmospheric approach.  Watercolor allows the light to shine though the color in a way that is nearly impossible to achieve in oil or acrylic. The colorful richness of pastels also call to me and I am drawn to incorporating them into my work.  I find peace and joy in creating my art and my goal is to share that with others.
