Docent Training a HUGE Success! Written on June 15, 2010, by mripp.

The Hardy Gallery’s first docent training of the season was held yesterday, with over 30 of our fabulous and hardworking docents in attendance. In an effort to streamline the training, we decided to beef up our docent manual with every bit of docent information that you could imagine…at 24 pages, it was a huge new project!

Perhaps the most interesting part of the docent training was the “Conversation with the Jurors,” with four of the five jurors for the 48th Annual Juried Exhibition in attendance. Photographer Dan Anderson, painter Brigitte Kozma, printmaker and watercolorist Donna Brown, and ceramic artist John Dietrich were on hand to discuss the jurying process. Many great questions were raised from the docents — and everyone seemed to have a great time!

After the docent training, Peggy Lott hosted a great luncheon at her Ephraim home, with lunch catered by Door County Private Chef. Her house was filled to the brim!

The Hardy wants to extend a huge thank you to the following: the members of the Hardy’s Volunteer Resource Committee (Shirley Williams, Aurelia Stampp, Pam Lecy, and Dorie Zimmerman — Dorie especially for formatting and editing our NEW Docent Training Manual!), the 48th Annual Juried Exhibition jurors for taking the time out of their schedules to meet with us; and Peggy Lott, luncheon host extraordinare.
